Stag Weekends in Blackpool – Now With Added Terror
Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, even with all its white knuckle rides, is tame by comparison. If you want real terror on your Blackpool stag night then two places top it. South Pier’s Adrenaline Zone and the Pasaje del Terror. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Pasaje del Terror – something wicked this way comes…
You’ll find this house of horror in the basement of the casino building at the northern tip of the Pleasure Beach. It’s not included in the Pleasure Beach’s wristband scheme. And with good reason – you wouldn’t want families stumbling into this by accident thinking it was the Ghost Train. But it is just perfect for scaring the life out of unsuspecting stag parties.
Marking its 10th anniversary this year the Pasaje del Terror has been made even more terrifying by the construction of new sets and the arrival of one very sinister new resident…
The Pasaje del Terror, you see, isn’t filled with laughable waxworks. The residents are restless, relentless and very, very real. You’ll be creeped out by whispered messages in the dark, by insane cackling from right behind you, and by the axe-wielding maniac chasing you down a pitch-black corridor.
Most attractions advertise themselves as being ‘not for the faint-hearted’ as some sort of publicity stunt to make you think it’s scarier than it is. The Pasaje del Terror means it. It is the ultimate horror test for every stag weekend in Blackpool – but dare you face the fear?
Grown women will weep. Grown men will embarrass themselves. But don’t worry. None of it’s real. Honest…
Adrenaline Zone: Scream if you want to go faster.
When it comes to rides all any visitor to Blackpool tends to think about is the Pleasure Beach. And it’s true that with its multiple rollercoasters, and rides like the Big One, Bling, Infusion and Grand National, Pleasure Beach Blackpool is well equipped to scare the bejeesus out of all but the toughest hearts.
But on a stag weekend in Blackpool you really should be aiming not just for scary rides, but those that offer the ultimate in pant-wetting terror. Take a bow, then, South Pier’s Adrenaline Zone. It has not one but two fiendish ways of separating the weak from the strong, and your spine from the rest of your body.
Skycoaster will have you freefalling, flying and enjoying zero gravity all in the same ride. You’ll swoop down from 120ft, the first 15ft in freefall. At its lowest point you’ll be just 6ft from the pier deck travelling at 80mph.
Skyscreamer is a reverse bungee that will test the toughest stag party. Climb on, strap in, and find yourself launched skywards at a speed that will have you facing Gs normally only felt by fighter pilots.
It’s truly terrifying. But which is worse? Facing the ride, or facing the rest of your stag party if you bottle it?
Don’t tackle these rides if you’re of a nervous disposition. Don’t tackle these rides if you’re scared of heights. Really don’t tackle these rides on a full stomach.
Any self-respecting stag party on a 'stag weekend in Blackpool' will normally find their legs turned to jelly at some point during the weekend. But these terrors will manage to do it without the aid of alcohol. You’ll be needing a stiff drink after though…
